It's about this generation - not us, not the name...

The Broken Wall, inc.
Where it doesn't matter your past!
From Dream to Reality:
TBW started as a God-given dream to Carrie Bailey, in the Spring of 2000. In 2002-
2006, the dream started to take shape. Carrie started calling this dream The Center.
She envisioned teenagers coming from all over, to centralized place. They were
hanging out and being teenagers, while being given help, hope, and love to meet
spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs. It wasn't until 2005 she knew it was to
be in York, PA (her hometown).
In 2007, the start-up board of directors was formed. The board included Carrie, Richard
Bailey, Darlene Bailey, Steven Stein, and Linda Stein. They did all the steps that were
needed to get The Center formed. In December 2007, they hit a wall. When meeting
with their Attorney, John Herrold, they were informed that the name "The Center" was
already taken. At the next Board Meeting they discussed name possibilities. When
Darlene suggested The Broken Wall; and it fit! Which stands for breaking the walls
teenagers have built around them, helping to re-build the life walls, and breaking
denomination walls.
In December 2007 The Broken Wall was formed. Churches, individuals, and
businesses started to catch this dream in the next few years. Harry and Beth Buhrman
joined the Board of Directors. They moved into a building in York City and discovered
that the building didn't quite meet zoning code requirements; so they moved out. In
February 2010, they found a small office in North York and made it their home.
They knew they couldn't just wait (even though they tried to rent several places), so over
the next few years they started some of their programs. The first program was our
community events. We rented space and had our Fall Festival in York City. Then we
added CLIFF Youth Nites (which was a God-given opportunity to partner with Calvary
Temple). Most recently we have started Counseling, Tutoring, Skillz Building, and more
in our small program space.
That's our history in a nugget!!!
